Peoria\’s Austin Wisely had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team\’s 7-2 win over St. Louis.
Wisely found the back of the net on the power play 10:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria and again while 19:39 into the second to make the score 4-2 Peoria.
St. Louis\’ 12 penalties came back to haunt it, as St. Louis let up four goals while on the penalty kill.
Peoria\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five St. Louis power plays. St. Louis was unable to stop Peoria from sending pucks towards the net, and Peoria eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Peoria could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.
Peoria also got points from Jason Hoehn, who also finished with two goals and one assist and Thomas Kolaz, who also registered one goal and one assist. Peoria also had goals scored by Dane Federighi, Chance Homerin, and Andrej Buchko, who each put in one. In addition, Peoria received assists from Aaron Siegrist, who had one and Levi Armstrong, who had three.
St. Louis forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. St. Louis surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game.
St. Louis was helped by Alex Klaesner, who grabbed one goal. Klaesner scored 12:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Peoria. Hayden Smer picked up the assist. St. Louis also got a goal from Zach Mitchell as well.
Nic Piech recorded 20 saves for Peoria. Ian Dvorak made 27 saves for St. Louis on 34 shots. For St. Louis, Frankie Cardinale was ejected from the game.
