The Toledo Cherokee\’s Tyler Zalecki scored 1:14 into overtime to beat the St. Louis Jr. Blues, 2-1 (OT).
Toledo was led by Zalecki, who had one goal.
The Cherokee excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. St. Louis was unable to stop Toledo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cherokee eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.
Aaron Roschinsky also scored for Toledo. More assists for Toledo came via David Bogart, Cam Schwartz, and Brody Duncan, who each chipped in one.
The Jr. Blues\’ penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Toledo power plays.
St. Louis was led by Daniel Dunaway, who scored the team\’s only goal. Dunaway scored 13:49 into the third period to make the score 1-1.
Glen Bates made 16 saves for Toledo on 17 shots. The Cherokee incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cooper Cothran recorded 32 saves for the Jr. Blues. St. Louis incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
