During the third, Altena finally put Granite City on the board with a goal at 2:03 with an assist from defenseman Olson. Dabbs answered for the Jr. Blues with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 16:16 with helpers from Hatton and Capkovic. Galaguzov deposited a goal at 19:54 with an assist from Hatton.
St. Louis’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Smith as he stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced. Smith’s counterpart, Mulligan, also had a big night, managing to stop 31 of 33, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the St. Louis Jr. Blues’ record to (10-1-0-0).
