Daniil Ovchinnikov did his part, adding 2 goals and Ivan Galaguzov contributed with 3 assists. Nick Klishko chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
In the first period, Maddox opened the scoring for St. Louis with a goal at 0:47 with helpers from his linemates, Edgar and Balestra. Ovchinnikov netted a goal at 4:34 with helpers from his linemates, Galaguzov and Hatton. Bornkamp put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 15:21 with an assist from Galaguzov.
During the second, Klishko finally put North Iowa on the board with a goal at 14:00 with assists from Mallonee and Honkanen. Collins deposited a goal at 17:34 with helpers from his linemates, Larson and Klishko.
In the third period, Ovchinnikov answered for St. Louis with a goal at 4:18 with a helper from Galaguzov.
The Jr. Blues’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Schmidt’s big night as he stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced. Schmidt’s counterpart, Scites, also had a big night, managing to stop 31 of 35, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the St. Louis Jr. Blues’ record to (68-18-0-4)
