Mason City Toros 5 @ St. Louis Jr. Blues 3 – The Mason City Toros shut down the St. Louis Jr. Blues on Blues territory in a cross-divisional matchup. In the first minute of play in the first period, the team lit the lamp first, as Blaze Bauer fired one past Travis Visvadra, with Kellen Kantaris and Weston Bohlman coming in with the assists. About 15 minutes later, the Blues finally drew something up and tied the score, as Lonnie Land wristed one from an open slot after getting sauced by Ryan Hogan. Shortly after, they would score again but this time on the power play, as Joe Lopiccolo capitalized off a feed from Teagan Lee. However, while still on the kill, the Toros’ Luke Gustafson buried one right after the centre ice faceoff to tie the game back up. Late in the second, however, Land would grab another one for the Note and get the go-ahead lead on a penalty shot. But that would change early into the third, when Christian Plaga tied it back up for Mason City. The tied score continued for several more minutes until at 2:39 Gustafson and Plaga would score back-to-back and fend off the Blues. Gustafson’s goal was delivered on his team’s PP run, while Plaga’s was bought from the empty netter.

Mason City 3 @ St. Louis 9 – The St. Louis Jr. Blues secured a dominant victory Sunday, overwhelming the Mason City Toros by a final score of 9-3. St. Louis showcased a relentless offensive attack, particularly in a high-scoring second period that allowed them to pull away and never look back. After a quiet opening frame with no scoring in the first period, the floodgates opened in the second. Jack Reuss broke the ice for St. Louis, finding the back of the net at 18:15 to give the Jr. Blues a 1-0 lead. Mason City responded quickly, as Mason Buchanan netted a goal off feeds from James Pautsch and Dom Despenas to tie the game. The Toros then took their only lead of the night on the power play, with T.J. Gibson scoring off assists from Luke Gustafson and Jason Williams. The Jr. Blues answered with a four-goal surge to close out the period. Stephen Craig leveled the score off assists from Carter Duy and Joseph Lopiccolo. Reuss then notched his second of the night to reclaim the lead, followed by a goal from Lonnie Land. Caden Lindley capped off the second-period explosion with a late tally, sending St. Louis into the locker room with a 5-2 advantage. In the third period, St. Louis showed no signs of slowing down. Reuss completed his hat trick early in the frame off assists from Brady Cook and Duy. Jace Jordan extended the lead further to 7-2 just minutes later. While Mason City’s Connor Pirsig managed to stop the bleeding momentarily with a goal assisted by Cooper Hedin and Elijah Elmer, the Jr. The Blues closed the game with two power-play goals. Lindley netted his second of the game, followed by a final marker from Mitchell Nappier to seal the 9-3 victory. In net, Aaron Sibert delivered a phenomenal performance, turning away 35 shots and grabbing St. Louis their 18th win on the season.
