Zane OBryan grabbed one point to lead the St. Louis Jr. Blues to a 6-3 victory over the Wisconsin Whalers.
St. Louis forced Whalers\’ netminders to work between the pipes, firing 42 shots and forcing 36 saves. Michal Marcinek made 34 stops and David Volkmann made two. The Jr. Blues struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Wisconsin to score two power play goals on three chances.
St. Louis also got a goal from Andrew Kovacich as well. In addition, St. Louis received assists from Mike Lozano, who had two and Tommy Heinzman, Tyler Opilka, Chris Brown, Simon Koscielski, Christian Argyros, maxwell cobb, and Steven Farina, who contributed one a piece.
The Whalers were led by Tim Tarvis, who tallied one goal and one assist. Tarvis scored on the power play 16:37 into the third period to make the score 5-3 St. Louis. Wisconsin had taken the advantage when St. Louis\’ Argyros got sent off for charging. Zack Johnson assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Wisconsin included Dan Addie and Easton Halbert, who scored one goal each. More assists for Wisconsin came via Alex Anderson, who had two and Mitch Riese and Jason Hoehn, who each chipped in one.
The Jr. Blues\’ Billy Hindle stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. St. Louis incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Whalers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
