The St. Louis Jr. Blues, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that defenseman Ben Jones has received an NAHL call-up to the Springfield Jr. Blues.
A native of Imperial, Mo., this is the 5’11”, 190 lbs. left-hander’s first season in junior hockey. In 11 games, he has scored one goal and added nine assists, with a +11 plus/minus rating.
“Ben has had an outstanding season so far,” said Jr. Blues head coach Chris Flaugher. “His play hasn’t gone unnoticed as now he’s getting an opportunity in the North American Hockey League with Springfield. Ben attended their main camp and left a good impression with head coach Tyler Rennette who kept tabs on him while playing in the NA3HL with our club. We felt it was a matter of time Ben would get an opportunity to play in the NA and that’s why he chose to play for the St. Louis Jr. Blues. Our coaching staff is excited that Ben gets this chance and we know he will make the most of it.”
Jones is the Jr. Blues’ first NAHL promotion of the 2017-18 season. Last year, the Jr. Blues’ biggest call-up success story was Jones’ former schoolmate at CBC High in St. Louis, Trevor Wilhelm, who was promoted mid-season to the Corpus Christi IceRays and ended up spending the remainder of the year in the NAHL.
