St. Louis beats Peoria 3-1 after comeback scare

The St. Louis Jr. Blues survived a determined comeback attempt by the Peoria Mustangs on the way to a 3-1 win.

A goal by Maxwell Cobb put St. Louis up 3-0 in the third period, but Peoria pulled to within two on Brendan Murphy\’s tally 7:03 into the third period.

The win by the Jr. Blues clinched the best of three series at 2-1.

St. Louis was paced by Mike Lozano, who had one goal and one assist. Lozano scored on the power play 18:58 into the second period to make the score 2-0 St. Louis. The Jr. Blues had gotten the advantage when the Mustangs\’ Austin Ziakas was sent off for high sticking.

St. Louis kept Peoria\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Marc Hayton made 45 saves on 48 shots.

Adam Roeder also scored for St. Louis. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Alex Klaesner, who had one.

More assists for Peoria came via Nathan Chasteen, who had one.

Cooper Cothran made 24 saves for the Jr. Blues on 25 shots. St. Louis incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Mustangs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
