Jr. Blues alumni Nick Saracino was named the Hockey East Pro-Ambitions Co-Rookie of the Week. In release from Hockey East:
Freshman forward Nick Saracino (St. Louis, Mo.) was named the Hockey East Association's Pro Ambitions Co-Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. Saracino netted the game-tying goal with 11 seconds to play against second ranked Boston College at a sold out Schneider Arena on Friday night.
After trailing for most of the game, Saracino's first career goal tied the game at 3-3 and sent it to overtime. With time running out, Providence pulled goaltender Jon Gillies (South Portland, Maine) in favor of an extra attacker when Saracino's shot beat Boston College goaltender Parker Milner. Red shirt freshman Noel Acciari (Johnston, R.I.) and senior Tim Schaller (Merrimack, N.H.) assisted on the play, which helped the Friars secure a Hockey East point and ultimately snap a 12-game losing streak with the Eagles.
Saracino becomes the second Friar to earn Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors this season, joining Gillies (Oct. 22 and Oct. 29).
