After that championship season, McGrath took his game to Cedar Rapids of the USHL.  Last year as a rookie, Ryan notched 42 points in 58 games, good for 6th in team scoring.  Jr. Blues Head Coach J.P. Beilsten who was an assistant coach during that championship season said, "Ryan has outstanding hands and speed.  He is the kind of player you love to play with and hate to play against.  We wish him well in Lowell."

McGrath with be spending the 2011-12 season back in a RoughRiders uniform.  According to McGrath, "I picked UMass because it has a strong hockey history along with the opportunity to get a great education."  But before he moves his game to college, Ryan feels like there is some unfinished business in Cedar Rapids, "My goals for this year will to get stronger, put up more points, and help the RoughRiders win a championship."
