LOEFFELMAN NAMED CAPTAIN FOR 2016-17 SEASON

Aug 27, 2016

The St Louis Jr. Blues have named forward Tomas Loeffelman their 29th club captain in their history. The decision was announced in a team meeting held this afternoon at the Affton Ice Rink.

A native of Oakville, MO, Loeffelman is beginning his second season with the Jr. Blues. Last year, he tied for the team lead in scoring with 56 points (24 goals, 32 assists) and was named to the U18 Selects Red team at the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament.

Loeffelman said that wearing the C “means that I need to be a real good role model for the team, have them follow me at every step that we can, and try to push them forward to win more games.”

Jr. Blues head coach—and former club captain himself—Chris Flaugher added, “It’s never easy to pick a captain, but this year we felt that one option really stood out, and that was “Snakes”. Tommy is a great leader on the ice, a strong and unifying presence in the dressing room, and in general everything you’d want in a captain. We’re confident that he can lead this team to continued success.”

The Jr. Blues play their only pre-season game this Sunday at the Affton Ice Rink against the Saint Louis Univ. Billikens (ACHA-D2). Faceoff is at 2 pm and admission is $6 for adults.
