Continuing our series where we learn a little bit more about a Jr. Blues player, today we’re introducing one of our rookies: Nick Balestra.
LAST SEASON: The native of Ballwin, MO is no stranger to the Affton Ice Rink, having played for Americans youth and Central States teams until his midget years. He joins the Jr. Blues from the St Louis AAA Blues U18 team in the Tier I Elite League, whom he led in scoring with 13 goals and 16 assists. He also was a four-year standout at Parkway West High, where he regularly ranked among the area’s scoring leaders.
What is your favorite moment in your hockey career? Winning the 14U National Championship with the Affton Americans in 2013

Favorite subject in school Mathematics, specifically accounting
Do you have any unique pre-game routines or superstitions? I do my own stretches in a specific order, I always put my left-side equipment on before the right, and I always tape my stick before I put on my skates.
Why did you choose the Jr. Blues? I believe they can give me the tools and the opportunity to play at the next level.
