The St. Louis Jr. Blues, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that forward Jacob Wiethaupt has committed to play college hockey at Missouri State University. The Ice Bears, located in Springfield, Mo., play ACHA Division I hockey in the WCHL.
A native of O’Fallon, Mo., the 6’, 170 lb right-hander joined the Jr. Blues from Carshield AAA in the NAPHL and quickly established himself as one of the team’s top scoring threats. In 79 career Jr. Blues games, he found the back of the net 53 times and recorded the exact same number of assists, finishing his junior career with a lifetime plus/minus rating of +55. In last season’s playoffs, Wiethaupt played in all seven games and averaged a point per game (2 G, 5 A).
“Jake is the definition of a top-line offensive talent,” said Jr. Blues head coach Chris Flaugher. “He’s quick, physical, and ready and willing to get in the dirty areas to score goals. We wish him all the best next year in Springfield.”
Wiethaupt becomes the sixth member of the 2019-20 Jr. Blues team to make a college commitment; he is also the second alumnus to commit to Missouri State, joining defenseman Mark Capkovic.
