A QUICK RECAP: The Jr. Blues picked up a split in their first home series of the year, dropping the home opener 3-2 before winning on Saturday 3-1. Standout performances came from Zach Lodes (2 G, 2 A on the weekend) and Mikaël Foucher (55 saves on 59 shots).

SCOUTING THE WHALERS: Tom McDermott’s men enter the weekend riding a five-game winning streak and consecutive road sweeps of Breezy Point and Evansville. Returning forward Sam Hanson leads the club in scoring with 23 points (9 G, 14 A), an impressive total considering he has only played five games. In goal, Japanese import Kai Tomita has emerged as the starter, with a 1.50 GAA and .956 save percentage. Last year, the Jr. Blues swept the season series against Wisconsin, winning all four games.

JUNIOR NOTES: Mark your calendars for November 17th, when the Jr. Blues and the Affton Bantam AA team will be having a special fundraiser at Nubby’s BBQ (11133 Lindbergh Business Ct, inside the All American Sports Center). That day the Jr. Blues play Evansville at 4, and the dinner will begin at 6:30 after the conclusion of the game….This weekend will mark the debut for forward Jacob Wiethaupt: tendered by the club this off-season, the Fort Zumwalt South product joined the Jr. Blues this week and has been assigned squad number 74.
