Jr. Blues Take Two Points from the Mustangs

Mar 10, 2025

Sunday, March 9 – Peoria 2 @ St. Louis 1 – The Peoria Mustangs ended their season on a high note, winning their last game of the regular season on the road against the St. Louis Jr. Blues 2-1. Peoria forwards Johnny Switzer and Rex Rhodes each scored a goal in the victory. Meanwhile, forward Brady Cook was the only one to light the lantern for St. Louis. The Jr. Blues didn’t have much success against Peoria goalie Albert Ancinec, who saved 38 of 39 shots on goal, helping clinch his sixth win of the season.

Saturday, March 8 – St. Louis 1 @ Peoria 9 – The Peoria Mustangs made a statement on Saturday. The most things hosted the St. Louis Junior Blues for a Saturday matinee game. However, the game was never truly competitive. Peoria stormed out of the gate and by the end of the contest they claimed a 9-1 victory on home ice. Wyatt Duke scored a hat trick while Rex Rhodes added another two goals for Peoria in this contest.

Friday, March 7 – Peoria 5 @ St. Louis 6 – The first period would be action packed, as Edwin Peterson would score to put the Mistangs in front. The Jr. Blues would respond with goals from Jack Reuss and Mitchell Nappier to give their team the lead. Brendan Miller would tie the game with a goal in the last 18 seconds, but a goal 14 seconds later from Mason Andrew would put St. Louis back in front.  Andrew would put two more goals in the back of the net to complete the hat trick, while Skyler Tompkins would score to trim down the lead. In the third, Wyatt Duke and Tompkins would complete the comeback to get this game all knotted up at 5. Mason Andrew’s magic would not end yet, as this time he would feed Jaxson Karandjef to score the game winning goal in one of the most chaotic games of the night.
