The St. Louis Jr. Blues travelled to Minneapolis/St. Paul this weekend for a two game set with the Twin City Steel. On Friday night, the Jr. Blues upended the Steel behind a strong performance in goal by Billy Hindle. Hindle stopped 41 of 44 shots while 5 different players notched goals for St. Louis. Two of the Jr. Blues 97's, Andy McGlynn and Zane O'Bryan led the way offensively, notching two points each.
On Saturday, the Jr. Blues came out flying, outshooting the Steel 15-5 in the first period. Jr. Blues captain Mike Lozano led the offense for St. Louis, scoring twice and adding an assist in a 4-2 win. Andrew Kovacich also scored twice and Christian Argyros added two assists. Cooper Cothran stopped 24 of 26 shots to pick up the win.
After spending the night, Saturday, the team headed to the airport to catch their morning flight, only to find that the entire midwest had been socked in a winter storm watch. Several hours later they were told they would be spending the night at The Mall of America to hopefully catch a flight on Monday. They are scheduled to fly back tonight (Monday), but that flight has already been delayed.
