Jr. Blues Sweep the Peoria Mustangs in 3 Game Weekend
The Jr. Blues completed a 3 game weekend over the Peoria Mustangs by clinching all 6 points on the weekend.
Sunday, October 27 – Peoria 3 @ St. Louis 6 – The Blues would carry on their momentum from this weekend as Joseph LoPiccolo would light the lamp early in this game. Shortly after, Kyle Settles found the back of the net on the powerplay, doubling the lead for St. Louis. Mason Andrew would strike early in the second period, to which Johnny Switzer and Colten Cox would respond shortly after. Nickolas Martin would level this game at three midway through the third, that is until Andrew would score two more goals to complete the hat trick. Brayden Davis added another goal to complete the weekend for the Blues. Eric Denny would have four assists in this game and seven in his last two games. Alexander Rivolta grabbed the win with 28 saves while Charlie Maquet collected 30 saves in relief.
Saturday, October 26 – Peoria 2 @ St. Louis 5 – After St. Louis picked up a win on Friday, the two teams would meet again. Caden Sadtler would get the Blues up early before Jordan Mini would respond with a goal of his own. Kelly Coldwater would notch a power play marker to which Mini would respond yet again to level this one at two. Coldwater would score another goal in the second, giving the Blues the lead. Joseph LoPiccolo and Brayden Davis would score insurance markers to lead the Blues to another win over Peoria. Travis Visvadra had 34 saves in the win, with his teammate, Eric Denny, collecting three assists as well.
Friday, October 25 – St. Louis 9 @ Peoria 3 – Eric Denny came out of the gates flying as he would light the lamp early, only to add another goal just minutes later on the powerplay. Still, on the major powerplay, Tyler Smith would grab a goal and Joseph LoPiccolo would join the party minutes after, giving the Jr. Blues a four-goal lead heading into the locker room. Colten Cox would put the Mustangs on the board before Jack Plager would respond. Zachary Rupich and Nathan Pleva added goals to slowly start mounting a comeback. However, this would be short-lived, as the Mustangs would have penalty trouble, leading to consecutive power play markers by Jack Reuss and Jaxson Karandjeff. Plager would notch his second of the night and Lucas Lange would get the fourth power-play goal in the final seconds. Albert Ancinec made 17 saves in relief for the Mustangs and Brooks Barofsky took the win with 17 saves as well.
