JR. BLUES START THE NEW SEASON OFF IN STYLE WITH BIG WIN

Sep 14, 2018

It took just 64 seconds for the St. Louis Jr. Blues to gain a lead they would not relinquish for the rest of the night, as they won their season opener at the Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts by the score of 16-0.

Scoring was the story of the night for the visitors, as only one Jr. Blues player ended the night without recording at least a point on the scoresheet. Will Baginski (St. Louis, Mo.) led all scorers with five points on the night (2 goals, 3 assists), while Colton Markiewicz (Rochester Hills, Mich.) got a hat-trick on his junior hockey debut and Tom Yurisich (Batavia, Ill.) notched four helpers. In total six Jr. Blues debutants–Markiewicz, Dom Lesnock (Dearborn, Mich.), Sean Hofstetter (Columbia, Ill.), Jake Faulkner (St. Louis, Mo.), Stepan Ruta (Hradec Kralove, Czechia), and Zach Wilson (Ballwin, Mo.)–got their first goal with the club on the night, and fellow rookie Mikael Foucher (Montreal, Quebec, Can.) recorded his first career shutout, stopping all 12 ‘Bolts shots as the Jr. Blues recorded 75 shots on net.

The same two teams will go at it again tomorrow night at 7:30 pm.
