Jr. Blues Split on the Road with the Mustangs
Saturday, December 21 – St. Louis 3 @ Peoria 6 – Four point nights from Colton Cox and Wyatt Duke powered the Peoria Mustangs to a weekend split with the St. Louis Jr. Blues, winning Saturday night by a final of 6-3. In the first, two early goals from Cox and Duke staked the Peoria lead at 2-0, but two goals in less than a minute from Eric Denny would level the game once again. Cox and Rex Rhodes would both answer for Peoria, and the high scoring first period would skid into the intermission with a 4-2 Peoria lead. The second would be a physical back and forth battle, but seven saves from St. Louis goaltender Alexander Rivolta and 15 saves from Albert Ancinec for Peoria would keep the game in favor of Peoria heading into the third period. In the third, Nathan Pleva and Duke would both bury goals in the final two minutes. Rece Sanderson would get a late consolation goal for St. Louis, but the comeback would fall short.
Friday, December 20 – St. Louis 3 @ Peoria 1 – The St. Louis Jr.Blues defeated the Peoria Mustangs by a final of 3-1 on Friday night. The first would be all St. Louis, as Joseph LoPiccolo and Teagan Lee would strike to give the Jr.Blues a two goal lead after 20 minutes. The second period would bring a goal from Mitchell Nappier for the Jr. Blues, and Colton Cox would answer for Peoria. Peoria would battle in the third to tie, but the effort would fall short.
