Jr. Blues Split Two Games Against the Cyclones
Sunday, February 2 – Wausau 4 @ St. Louis 2 – The Wausau Cyclones secured a strong road win over the St. Louis Jr. Blues on Sunday evening. Landon Bechtolt kicked off the scoring for the Cyclones early in the first, and Micah Saxon doubled their lead early in the second. Jack Plager responded for St. Louis keeping it a one-goal game heading into the third. Wausau found the back of the net twice in the final period with power-play goals from Cullen Grahek and Bechtolt. Jack Reuss added a late goal for the Blues, but it wasn’t enough to create a comeback.
Saturdya, February 1 – Wausau 1 @ St. Louis 5 – The St. Louis Jr. Blues sang their way to a 5-1 win over the Wausau Cyclones on Saturday night. St. Louis set the tone early and kept their foot on the gas as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead with scores from Joseph LoPiccolo, Carter Duy and Mason Andrew. Easton Plachetka found the back of the net to cut the deficit to a pair of goals for Wausau, but was answered just four minutes later with back-to-back goals from Jack Ruess. Both teams hung a mirrored 33 shots in the affair. Tanner Bonjernoor made 28 saves on 33 shots for Wausau, and Alexander Rivolta was nearly perfect as he made 32 saves on 33 shots to pick up the win for St. Louis.
