Jr. Blues Split In Rochester, Head To Wausau For Sunday Tilt

NOTES SPLIT IN ROCHESTER: The Jr. Blues split a two-game set in Rochester Friday and Saturday. The Blues earned a thrilling 4-3 shootout victory on Friday. Mike Ivory, Joey Boccardi, and Riley Howse all netted goals in regulation before Joey Solimando knocked home the shootout winner. Owen Carlson earned the win by outdueling Zach Wiese. Carlson made 44 saves. Tim Delaney and Ivory each scored on Saturday but the Jr. Blues fell 5-2.

BOCCARDI AND IVORY KEY OFFENSE: Boccardi and Ivory helped restart the Blues offense this weekend at Rochester. The captain Boccardi picked up two assists and a goal, and Ivory sent home two goals to help the Blues break a three-game scoreless streak. The team had been shutout by Peoria and Rochester each of the previous two weekends. 

SCOUTING THE RIVERWOLVES: Wausau stands at 3-13 on the season. The team is 1-9 in its last 10 games. This is the first meeting of the year between the Jr. Blues and RiverWolves but far from the last. The Jr. Notes return to Wausau for a three-game set from Jan. 22 through the 24th. Wausau comes to Affton Ice Rink February 25th through 28th for a four-game series. RiverWolves forward Trey Bess currently leads the league in shorthanded goals with four. Wausau has lost five in a row at home.
