JR. BLUES’ SMITH GETS CALL-UP TO NAHL’S SPRINGFIELD

Oct 27, 2016

The St. Louis Jr. Blues, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that goaltender Hunter Smith has been called up to the Springfield Jr. Blues of the NAHL as an affiliate player.

Acquired by St. Louis early this season, the 6’1, 188lb native of Flower Mound, TX has posted a 4-1-0 record with a 1.61 goals-against average and a save percentage of .938. His most recent two starts have both been shutouts, keeping clean sheets on October 15 against Wisconsin (21 saves) and on October 22 versus Evansville (15 saves).

St. Louis head coach Chris Flaugher said of the move: “Hunter’s been a great, consistent goalie since his arrival here. He’s earned this trip up to Springfield this weekend, as you can easily tell just by looking at his stats. We hope this is just the start of bigger and better things for him.”

Smith is the sixth NA3HL player to receive a promotion to a NAHL club this season. Last year, the Jr. Blues had four players called up mid-season to the NAHL.
