Jr. Blues Look To Stay Hot In Wausau This Weekend

NOTES CRUSH RIVERWOLVES: The Jr. Blues ended their Jan. 15-17 road trip to Rochester and Wausau with a Sunday win over the RiverWolves. The 7-2 margin of victory was the largest of the season for St. Louis. The seven goals were also the most for the Jr. Blues this season. The team carried a 7-0 lead to the third period. Joey Solimando, Derek Cagle, Matt McGowan, Mike Ivory, Riley Howse, Jackson Henningsgard, and Jack Dapron all netted one goal apiece. Owen Carlson made 23 saves en route to the win.

NOTES SPLIT IN ROCHESTER: The Jr. Blues split a two-game set in Rochester Friday, Jan. 15 and Saturday, Jan. 16. The Blues earned a thrilling 4-3 shootout victory on Friday.  Riley Howse scored twice, and Matt McGowan added a goal in regulation before Joey Solimando knocked home the shootout winner. Owen Carlson earned the win by outdueling Zach Wiese. Carlson made 44 saves. Tyler Sunagel and Mike Ivory each scored on Saturday but the Jr. Blues fell 5-2.

SCOUTING THE RIVERWOLVES: Wausau stands at 3-14 on the season. The team is 1-9 in its last 10 games. This is the second meeting of the year between the Jr. Blues and RiverWolves but far from the last. Wausau comes to Affton Ice Rink February 25th through 28th for a four-game series. RiverWolves forward Trey Bess currently leads the league in shorthanded goals with four. Wausau has lost six in a row at home.
