St. Louis Jr. Blues Head Coach J.P. Beilsten had some concerns heading into the NA3HL Showcase in Blaine, MN last weekend. He says, "Anytime you have a weekend off there is a concern that you will not be sharp when you come back. The fact that our first weekend back was the Showcase made practice last week even more important." So, the players and staff got to work and ended up with a very productive weekend.
Beilsten says, "We knew going into the weekend that it was going to be a tough weekend hitting Toledo right out of the gate. Follow that up with Alexandria, Flint, and Metro and that makes for a pretty tough schedule for the weekend." The Jr. Blues ended the weekend a perfect 4-0, outscoring their opponents 20-7 on the weekend. Leading the way for the Jr. Blues was Cody Guidorzi and Victor Gortz who both scored an impressive 8 points in 4 games. Brycon Johnson notched 5 points in the 4 games.
Even more impressive were the opportunities the players earned. Several players have the opportunity to skate with NAHL teams, and several may have the opportunity to finish the season at Tier II. Says Beilsten, "This is why we are here, to move players on. A lot of players put themselves in a position to be noticed by their play."
