JR. BLUES DROP HOME OPENER DESPITE BAGINSKI’S DOUBLE

In front of a great first-night crowd at Affton, the St. Louis Jr. Blues were sadly unable to come away with the win as North Iowa ran out 3-2 winners.

The hosts got off to a big start, as Will Baginski (St. Louis, Mo.) finished off a nice odd-man rush at 5:48, assisted by Zach Wilson (Ballwin, Mo.) and Joey Boccardi (St. Louis, Mo.). The Bulls would equalize on a short-handed breakaway, but with 1:18 left in the 1st Baginski would be credited with his second goal from a dirty area, this time assists going to Zach Lodes (Ballwin, Mo.) and Mason Kruger (Alpharetta, Ga.). However, that would be it for the Jr. Blues in terms of goals, as North Iowa got markers in both periods 2 and 3 to run out winners. Mikael Foucher (Montreal, Quebec, Can.) stopped 34 shots as the Jr. Blues were out-shot 37-32.

Both teams will be back at it Saturday afternoon at 2 pm at Affton.
