JR. BLUES DEFENSEMAN TO REPRESENT HIS COUNTRY

The St. Louis Jr. Blues, proud members of the NA3HL, would like to congratulate defenseman Regnars Udris on being named to the Latvian national U18 team for this year’s IIHF U18 World Championships. Latvia was drawn into Group A for this tournament, which begins this week in Poprad, Slovakia.

A native of Talsi, Latvia, Udris joined the Jr. Blues this season after playing AAA hockey in California. “Reggie”, as he was known to teammates and fans, played in 41 games this year for the Jr. Blues, scoring two goals and adding 17 assists. He also led the team in plus/minus rating, ending the season on +57.

“Obviously, we’re incredibly excited that one of our players has been chosen for his national side,” remarked St. Louis head coach Chris Flaugher. “Reg has been a great presence on our blue-line this year, with a style of play that works well in both the offensive and defensive ends. We wish him and the Latvian team nothing but the best of luck at Worlds.”

This is not Udris’ first U18 World Championships, as last year he was capped by Latvia when the tournament was held in Grand Forks, N.D. He played five total games as Latvia retained their place in the top division.
