Helena falls to St. Louis after surprising comeback

St. Louis climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat Helena, 6-4.

St. Louis never led in the game until netting the game winner. St. Louis was down 4-1 after a goal by Helena\’s Brandon Mills at 11:24 in the second period. St. Louis knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Frankie Melton at 1:07 in the third period. St. Louis got the game winner short handed at 8:21 in the third period on a goal by Melton.

St. Louis got the win on the strength of a great game by Melton, who had two goals and one assist.

Helena was unable to stop St. Louis from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Louis eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

St. Louis also got points from Sam Maddox, who also had two goals and one assist. Others who scored for St. Louis included Tomas Loeffelman and Joe Nolan, who each put in one. In addition, St. Louis received assists from Daniel Dunaway, who had two and Alex Calvert, Cameron McAtee, and Alex Klaesner, who each chipped in one.

Helena\’s offense rang up 33 shots on St. Louis\’ net.

Blake Babineau also scored for Helena. Other players who recorded assists for Helena were Arin Bondurant, Johnny Bonta, Bryan Knesel, and Ryan Daugherty, who contributed one each.

Ian Dvorak made 29 saves for St. Louis on 33 shots. St. Louis incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Grant Martens rejected 30 shots on goal for Helena. Helena incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
