Jr. Blue forward Brycon Johnson has signed a tender to play for the Aberdeen Wings in 2013-14. Johnson is 3rd in team scoring and becomes the 2nd 1996 birth year Jr. Blues player to sign a tender for next year. According to the Wings,
Brycon Johnson, Birth year 1996
Brycon is a 5'11" 185 lb left handed forward. from St. Peter, Missouri. Brycon last played for the St. Louis Junior Blues NA3HL team. "Brycon has great hockey sense with a great work ethic, he is a strong skater with great speed. Brycon has his best hockey ahead of him and we look forward to him coming in and contributing next season."
Johnson said, "The opportunity to play for Coach Winter was a big factor in signing with Aberdeen. Coach Beilsten spoke very highly of him after working with him while he was in Cedar Rapids (USHL). He has played DI hockey and that's what I want to do too and I feel like he can help me get there."
Jr. Blues Head Coach J.P. Beilsten said, "Brycon has been outstanding for us this year. It's because of players like Brycon that make our organization successful. I'm not sure that there is anyone that is as physically strong as Brycon on our team and he is hard to fight off the puck."
Johnson spent last week skating with the Wings and had a chance to play in a game against Bismarck over the weekend. While he didn't find his way on to the score sheet, the team reported that Brycon had an outstanding game, strong physical play and great ice awareness.
Johnson joins other Jr. Blues that have tendered for next year; Trey Dodd (Austin) and Kyle Meeh (Fairbanks), and Tyler Opilka, who was moved up to Springfield this season. There are several other current members that are making decisions on next season at the collegiate and junior hockey levels.
