Jr. Blues Chop Down the Woodsmen in Two Game Set

Wisconsin 3 @ St. Louis 5 – The St Louis Jr Blues hosted the Wisconsin Woodsmen Friday night. The home team would eventually reign victorious, outshooting the Woodsmen 43-20. The Blues struck first at 12:18 of the first period with a power play goal by Chase Kozma, assisted by Caden Lindley and Mitchell Nappier. The Woodsmen would answer three minutes later with a goal by Cole Schreiber, assisted by Tyler Osborne and Patrick Bowser. A minute later, the Blues would take the lead back with a short-handed goal by Caden Lindley, assisted by Jaxon Karandjeff. In a physical second period, the Blues would increase their lead by two with teammates Jace Jordan and Lonnie Land each netting a goal and an assist. The Blues took a 4-1 lead into the locker room. In the third, the Blues would strike one final time with a power play goal by Rece Sanderson, assisted by Lonnie Land and Jace Jordan. The Woodsmen would start to cut into the deficit with a goal by Tyler Osborne, assisted by Cole Schreiber and Micah Sieben at 13:54. They would also tack on another goal at 11:06 by Maxim Lazo, assisted by Ty Paulios and Brandon Slasor, but it wouldn’t be enough as the St. Louis Jr Blues win 5-3.

Wisconsin 2 @ St. Louis 3 (OT) – The Wisconsin Woodsmen took a trip to St. Louis to challenge the 9-1 Blues. Both defenses held strong in the first period allowing 0 goals going into the second period tied 0-0. The tie wouldn’t hold as with 5 minutes left in the period the Blues would start the scoring with a goal from Lonnie Land, assisted by Jace Jordan and Joseph Lopiccolo. Just 3 minutes later Lonnie Land would score again with Jace Jordan and Joseph Lopiccolo getting the assist again. Less than a minute later the Woodsmen would get on the board with a goal from Nolan Mix, Ty Paulios and Maxim Lazo pick up the assist. The final period would 19 minutes with no scoring, looking like the Blues were going to take it, until Nolan Mix scored once again to force overtime for the Woodsmen, Ty Paulios and Maxim Lazo with the assist again. In overtime, Eric Denny would win the game for the Blues with a goal assisted by Caden Lindley and Joseph Lopiccolo. The Blues defeat the Woodsmen in a thriller 3-2.

The Junior Blues overall record moves to 9 Wins and 1 Loss on the season.  Next weekend the Jr. Blues square off on the road against the Wisconsin Woodsmen.
