Late goal as the Jr. Blues fall to the Lumberjacks 4-3

Brady Dahl scored the game winning goal late in the game as the St. Louis Jr. Blues narrowly lost to the Granite City Lumberjacks 4-3 in a home game at Canlan Ice Sports-Romeoville Rink 1 in St. Louis. Also, Sawyer Schmidt came up big, stopping 24 of 28 shots throughout the game.

Brandon Bornkamp chipped in with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). Owen Sikich had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 2 goals and Brady Dahl delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

During the first, Papa opened the scoring for the Jr. Blues with a goal at 2:24 with helpers from Bornkamp and Mcatee. Bornkamp quickly followed with a goal at 2:46 with a helper from Werdmuller.

In the second period, Sikich finally put the Lumberjacks on the board with a goal at 18:01 with an assist from Dahl. Mitchell quickly followed with a goal at 18:47 with a helper from his teammate Bornkamp.

In the third, Esselman answered for Granite City with a goal at 3:23 with an assist from his defensive partner, Baker. Sikich put in a goal at 12:15 with helpers from his linemates, Smith and Altena. Dahl netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 19:57 with an assist from fellow Lumberjacks forward Altena.

This loss brings the St. Louis Jr. Blues’ record to (42-12-0-2)
