OBryan scored at 2:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis and again while 13:20 into the first to make the score 4-1 St. Louis.
St. Louis\’ penalty kill excelled, as the Jr. Blues gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.
St. Louis stifled Chicago\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Blues kept the Junior Bulldogs\’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Paku made 31 saves on 37 shots. St. Louis bested its season scoring average. This season, the Jr. Blues average 3.0 goals per contest. St. Louis was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 38 penalty minutes.
St. Louis additionally got points from Brian Schumacher, who also had two goals and one assist. Others who scored for St. Louis included Andrew McGlynn and Alex Klaesner, who scored one goal each. Chicago forced the Jr. Blues goalie William Hindle to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Junior Bulldogs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 78 minutes in penalties during the game.
Chicago was helped by Nick Rems, who grabbed one goal. Rems scored 3:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Niko Moulakelis provided the assist.
