ST. LOUIS ALUM MCGLYNN MAKES NCAA COMMITMENT

Jun 20, 2018

The St. Louis Jr. Blues, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that former forward Andy McGlynn has committed to play college hockey at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The Blugolds play NCAA Division III hockey in the WIAC, where they won the Commissioner’s Cup as league champions this past season.

A native of St. Louis and stand-out player for Affton Youth Hockey, McGlynn joined the Jr. Blues in 2013-14, where he scored 16 goals and added 19 assists in 36 games, which earned him a tender signing with the Springfield Jr. Blues of the NAHL. After starting the 2014-15 campaign in Springfield, he would finish out the year with St. Louis, where he scored 14 goals in as many games: during that off-season, he would tender once again with a NAHL club, this time the Corpus Christi IceRays. In two seasons in South Texas, McGlynn scored 14 goals and 28 assists, before being dealt at last year’s trade deadline to the Coulee Region Chill, where in 2016-17 he added 15 points (4 G, 11 A) in 26 games and two more helpers in the playoffs. In his final junior season with the Chill, Andy recorded his best offensive numbers yet, scoring 15 goals and 28 assists: he was also named to the Midwest Division team for the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, where he recorded one goal and one assist.

“Andy’s the perfect example of what hard work can bring a hockey player,” commented Jr. Blues head coach Chris Flaugher. “I’ve had the pleasure to see him progress from when he was just a mini-mite to where he is now, and he’s a young man with a great character and the talent to back it up. All of us at the Jr. Blues congratulate him on committing to UW-Eau Claire.”

McGlynn becomes the eighth current or former Jr. Blues player to make a college commitment this off-season.
