Happy
Birthday Doc!
As Jr. Blues Clinch League!
On assistant coach's Doc Runco's birthday the Jr.
Blues wanted to give Doc a birthday present to
remember. In recent years, the Jr. Blues have come up
short on Doc's birthday, but this time the team
was not going to be denied. Ryan Loach
scored in the game's first minute with Tommy Lange
and Tim Jost assisting.
The second period started with a 4 on 4 situation. Tommy Lange
won a big battle in the corner and hit Tim Jost
back door to give the Jr. Blues a 2-0 lead. Later in the
period, Tim Jost won a clean draw back to Bret
Morrell who blasted a shot past the screened goaltender
making it 3-0. Ryan Kretzer combined with Eddie
Effinger on the power play as Kretzer
rolled off the boards and snapped a perfect shot top shelf to
increase the lead. Late in the period, Brenden
Sheehan tapped in a goal mouth scramble with Effinger
and Kretzer assisting. The third period was
all St. Louis as they CJ Chappell converted a pass
from Scott Keeven for the power play goal. Cal
Heeter was sharp early and recorded his league leading
5th shutout making 27 saves.
The win clinched the Jr. Blues 5th consecutive CSHL League
Championship. It was their 31st win in a row and as they
have only one loss on the season. The Championship also
earns the Jr. Blues an opportunity to defend their National
Championship with a birth to the 2006 Jr. B Nationals in
Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Obviously, this will be a
birthday memory that Doc Runco will fondly
remember.

Jr.
Blues Ground the Jets 10-1!
The Jr. Blues looked like a team ready for postseason.
The Jr. Blues were very aware of the Jets home record this
season and the Jr. Blues history of not sweeping the Jets in
several years. The Jr. Blues definitely played like
they had a point to prove as they dominated action. Chris
Saracino scored the games first goal as he blasted a
one timer off a Ryan Loach give and go on the
power play. Moments later, Loach scored
on a one timer himself off a Tim Gardner feed
with Tim Jost also assisting on the cycling
play. With the Jr. Blues shorthanded, Brendan
Sheehan won a battle in the corner and set up Ryan
Kretzer alone in front giving St. Louis a 3-0 lead.
Late in the period, Grant Everett made a great
pass to Branden Moran on a two on one break
with Moran making a perfect move to cap off
the period 4-0.
The second period was more of the same as the Jr. Blues
continued to dominate. Grant Everett and
Branden Moran hooked up again on a passing
play this time Everett had the goal and Moran
the assist. Ryan Loach made a steal in
the zone moments later and sniped his second goal of the
game. With the Jr. Blues killing a 2 minute 5 on 3
disadvantage Ryan Kretzer made the highlight
play of the game. Kretzer poked the puck
off the defenseman at the point and out skated the Jets to
the puck. Then he made the spectacular move on the
goaltender to record a rare 5 on 3 shorthanded goal.
The Jr. Blues weren't finished though as Tim Gardner
found Bret Morrell cutting to the slot from
the point. Morrell blasted a shot off
the crossbar and in to make it 8-0 with just two seconds
remaining in the period.
The third period saw the Jets break Robby Moss'
shutout streak at over 190 minutes. Moss
was again spectacular in nets making 24 saves. Tommy
Lange showed his dangles as he made a pretty move
and set up Scott Keeven for the Jr. Blues
ninth goal. Late in the period, Tim Gardner
banged home a rebound on the power play to make the final
10-1.

8-1 Win Over
the Icedogs Not That Easy!
The first period was more Michigan than St. Louis. With
the Icedogs out working and out chancing the Jr. Blues, the home
team was lucky to come out of the period scoreless.
The second period started to look like the first with the
Icedogs getting chance after chance but Jr. Blues
goaltender Cal Heeter was up to every challenge.
At this point, the Jr. Blues top line of Ryan Kretzer,
Eddie Effinger and Chad Larkowski
took over the game. On the power play, Bret Morrell
started the play on the point. Morrell
passed to Effinger who hit Kretzer
down low who made a nifty move to score the first goal of the
game. With the Jr. Blues clinging to a 1-0 lead and
killing a penalty, Paul Puglisi broke up an Ice

Effinger who poked it to Ryan Kretzer in
the neutral zone. Kretzer used his speed and
deception to beat a defender and then made a perfect move
on the goaltender to give the Jr. Blues a 2-0 lead. The
Michigan team finally scored late in the second on a screen shot
from the point. Late in the period the Jr. Blues found
themselves on the power play for only the second time.
They took full advantage though as Bret Morrell
again started the play. Morrell sauced a
perfect pass to Effinger from the point. Effinger
went down to Kretzer who found Chad
Larkowski in front. Larkowski
banged home the power play goal and gave the Jr. Blues a 3-1
lead.
The third period showed for the first time all weekend the speed
and skill of the Jr. Blues. Tim Jost scored
a goal that would make any highlight reel. Ryan
Loach passed to Brendan Sheehan who set up
Jost who faked one way and went the other to beat
the goaltender. Chad Larkowski finished a
strong cycling play with a goal from in front with Effinger
and Kretzer assisting. Then moments later, Eddie
Effinger won a big battle behind the net and found Ryan
