League vs. Grand Rapids Jr. Owls

Jr. Blues Bomb the Jr. Owls 11-2!

For the second straight game all four lines of the Jr. Blues scored goals once again led by the Blackwood, Hutton and Kurlandski line.  Chris Hutton scored the first goal with a breakaway move off the top bar and in.  Matt Sieb and Phil Blackwood assisted. Moments later, Phil Blackwood sniped a good quick low shot on the power play after he undressed the Grand Rapids defenseman.  Hutton and Grant Boyd assisted.  Early in the second period on a 3 on 2 break, Phil Blackwood hit the trailing Chris Hutton who once again sniped one top shelf for a 4-0 lead.  After a Grand Rapids tally, the Jr. Blues went back to work once again with their top line.  This time Phil Blackwood scored with a big move on the goalie and an open net to feed it into.  Jay Roux scored on a good play in front as Zach Hamilton centered to Sam Davis who shot and Roux redirected for the goal.  A late Grand Rapids power play goal made it 5-2 after two periods.  Chris Hutton sent Phil Blackwood on a 2 on 1 break in the third period.  Blackwood hit Andrew Kurlandski who was driving the net for the goal.  Jack Berger then joined the fun on a Tom Lange rebound with Mike Daniels also assisting.  Chris Hutton completed the hat-trick with an unassisted breakaway with his third goal of the game off the top bar and in.  David Ulm then was set up by Ryan Devine after Paul Zuke won a battle in the corner.  Ulm then scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway.  Paul Zuke then finished the scoring with a one timer off a Devine feed.  The Jr. Blues finish their season this weekend at Affton against the Metro Jets.

Ozawa's Fourth Shut-Out Stops Grand Rapids 8-0!

Just 18 seconds into the game the Jr. Blues top line set the tone for the weekend.  Phil Blackwood was sent in on a breakaway and made a nifty move and roofed a shot that hit the crossbar and goal post but stayed out.  Not to be denied, Andrew Kurlandski pounced on the rebound to give the Jr. Blues the early lead.  Moments later, Chris Hutton streaked out of the Jr. Blues zone with the puck and put a move by the Grand Rapids defense and then made the perfect move on the goaltender to make it 2-0.   Mike Daniels then took a Tommy Lange pass and moved by the defense and scored off his own rebound to make it 3-0 after 1 period.  Early in the second the Jr. Blues pressured.  Andrew Kurlandski sniped one off the post and the rebound went directly to Phil Blackwood who tapped in the goal.  Tyler Polizzi then banged home a pass from Jay Roux in front to make it 5-0.  Zach Hamilton started the play with a big hit in the corner.  Right off a Ryan Devine face-off win, Paul Zuke made a perfect shot off the post for a 6-0 lead.  In the third period,  Zach Hamilton scored on the power play as he knocked in a Chris Hutton rebound who was set up all alone by a Matt Sieb pass.  Ryan Devine finished the scoring with an unassisted short handed goal off a pretty move and perfect shot.  Max Ozawa was busy enough to stay sharp as he turned away 28 shots for his fourth shut-out of the season.
