Jr.
Blues Captains Lead Young Squad
When the Jr. Blues named their captains in August, Pat
Dolan was named captain. Pat
was an Alternate Captain last season and was Acting
Captain for the Hurster Cup and National Championships
after Pete Wildhaber was injured. Pat
is in his third season with the Jr. Blues and is one of
only two 1985 birth year players on the team. The
20 year-old captain has been a force in the locker room
the past two seasons. Slowed because of a bout
with Mono early in the season, Pat has
only just recently started playing games this year. His
maturity and experience has solidified the Jr. Blues
defense upon his return. Pat's
biggest contributions come in the leadership department.
He is a prime example of a player who always puts the
team first. His positive attitude has been a great
influence on the young Jr. Blues team.
Bret Morrell has been a leader in the room
and on the ice for the Jr. Blues. His role as
Alternate Captain took more responsibility than normal
with the absence of Pat Dolan early in the
season. In his second season he has taken the
leadership responsibility of the team and has been a
major reason for the Jr. Blues early season success. Brett
currently leads the CSHL in defense scoring. His
playmaking abilities and quick shot are an offensive
weapon. His great skating and anticipation make
him a defensive leader. Bret has
been able to refine his abilities and use the confidence
from last season's National Championship performance to
make him one of the top defensemen in the entire CSHL.
Bret's poise and competitive spirit has
been a driving force for the young Jr. Blues. Look
for Bret to be an early Tender pick for a
NAHL team. Bret's leadership and
play have been key with the Jr. Blues injuries on
defense. He has simply been a force on the ice
every weekend. Bret strives to
play Jr. A and Division I hockey. He certainly
looks like a player on a mission.
Eddie Effinger is also an Alternate
Captain for the Jr. Blues. Eddie's
tireless work ethic have shown the young Jr. Blues the
way to success. Eddie currently is
among the league leaders in scoring. His great two
way hockey has rubbed off on the new players. Eddie's
penalty killing has helped put the Jr. Blues at a 94%
efficiency. Eddie also see plenty of
time on the power play and has been teamed recently with
Ryan Kretzer and Chad Larkowski.
The threesome are the top 3 scorers on the team. Eddie
is another top Jr. A prospect with definite Tender
options for him. Eddie hopes to take
his game to Jr. A and College, with his determination he
most certainly has a shot.
