Late goal helps the Jr. Blues defeat the Lumberjacks 4-2

Mark Capkovic scored the game winning goal late in the game as the St. Louis Jr. Blues defeat the the Granite City Lumberjacks 4-2 in a home game at Affton Ice Rink in St. Louis. As well, the St. Louis Jr. Blues' offense had a big night, peppering the Lumberjacks with 26 shots throughout the game.

Joe Papa chipped in with 2 goals and Jack Hatton contributed with 2 assists.

In the first period, Papa opened the scoring for the Jr. Blues with a goal at 13:36 with helpers from his linemates, Hatton and Jones.

In the second, Sikich answered for Granite City with a goal at 6:45 with assists from teammates Olson and Altena.

In the third period, Ohmes put in a goal at 5:05 with helpers from his linemates, Neu and Towers. Papa answered for St. Louis with a goal at 8:08 with an assist from defenseman Mcatee. Capkovic scored what turned out to be the game winning goal at 18:54 with helpers from Dunaway and Caito. Galaguzov quickly followed with a goal at 19:21 with assists from Jones and Hatton.

The Jr. Blues’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Bjella as he stopped 17 of the 19 shots he faced. On the other hand, Bjella’s counterpart, Gerads, and the Lumberjacks’ defense did not have such a great night allowing 3 goals in 25 shots.

This win brings the St. Louis Jr. Blues’ record to (11-1-0-0).
