What is Tier III Junior “A” Hockey?
Tier
III Junior “A” hockey is an alternative for exceptional athletes who demand a
greater challenge than that provided by prep school teams, high school teams,
or area midget teams. The purpose of
Tier III Junior “A” hockey is to develop and prepare the exceptional athlete
for advancement in either Tier I or Tier II Junior “A” or Collegiate Programs.
What is the Jr. Blues
Program?
The 2007-2008 season consisted of over 100 practices along with a 53 game schedule that included regular season and playoffs. All games are 60 minutes of stop playing time, which includes a 15-minute warm up, and three 20-minute periods with an ice resurface after each break.
The upcoming 2008-2009 season the Jr. Blues will practice a minimum of three times per week and expect a regular season schedule of approximately 48 games plus playoffs. This includes our CSHL Showcase. The Showcase is a venue that the entire League participates in at one site. This allows easy access for scouts to view the entire League. The team provides transportation and boarding to all out of town games.
The Jr. Blues skate at the Affton Ice Rink with their own
first class locker room and dry room.
Travel is done either via Airlines or Motor Coach to the closer road
opponents. Hotel and travel costs are
paid for by the club. Jr. Blues provide

Peter Stastny, NHL Hall of Famer talks about placing his sons with the Jr. Blues; Yan Stastny, current member of the Peoria Rivermen and St. Louis Blues, 2002 eighth round draft pick by the Bruins, and Paul Stastny, current member of the Colorado Avalanche having set a NHL Rookie Record last year for consecutive games with a point scored (21), Regular Season Leading Scorer in 2007-08 while being named to the NHL All-Star Game.
Placing my two sons, Yan and Paul, in the St. Louis Jr. Blues program was one of the
best decisions I made in their hockey careers. They got a lot more than I
expected! Dedication to the team and teammates, hard work and discipline
were some of the aspects of major improvements. In addition, their individual
and collective skills also got a major boost. This is all due to the great leadership
and experience from the coaching staff lead by Jack Behan. They were always
demanding, but just and fair. Their balanced approach provided important
room and freedom for players to work and apply their creative skills, which in
turn lead my boys to have tons and tons of fun and wonderful memories. I never
hesitated with my decision to place my sons with the Jr. Blues because I did my
homework. Playing for the team had a positive impact on their success in the
USHL, NCAA, and US National Teams. I must mention the important role of the
passionate and generous ownership of the Jost Family. They made Jr. Blues a
first class organization for the enjoyment of the players, the parents, the
community, and the hockey fans.
Chris Butler, Denver Pioneers, 2007-08 All American, 2005 member of National Junior
Team, 2005 fourth round NHL draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres and recently
signed by the Sabres:
“Playing for the Jr. Blues against
older and stronger players as a young defensemen prepared me for what it was
going to be like playing Jr. A. From top
to bottom this organization is handled professionally, and I don’t think anyone
can say enough about what the Jost family continues to do for this program year
after year.”
Joey Vitale, Northeastern
Huskies, 2007-08 All New England Team, 2007-08 Paul Hines award winner for New
England most improved player, seventh
round NHL draft pick for the Pittsburgh Penguins:
"The facilities, dedicated coaching staff, and overall
environment that the Junior Blues provide, gives any young
athlete the greatest of opportunities to develop as a hockey player and as
a person."
Michael Davies,
“The St. Louis Junior Blues is a great stepping stone to pursue
your hockey dream. I've never been part of an organization where the coaching
staff cares so much about their players. Everything is top notch, from the
coaches to the facility. I don't think I would be where I'm at today if I
wouldn't have chosen to play under Jack Behan and the St. Louis Junior Blues.”
Robby Moss,
“The Jr. Blues experience was
amazing for me. Playing for Jack Behan and his coaching
staff provided me with a great environment to
develop as a hockey player and prepare me for the next level. Jack is not
only a great coach but also a great friend and resource. Jack spent
countless hours promoting me and my teammates to Junior A coaches and I cannot
thank him enough. I know he did this for his players, even if it meant
sacrificing the success of his team. Playing for the Junior Blues was a
great stepping stone to where I am today and where I'm going to be next
season!”
Mike Hewkin, Northeastern
Huskies:
"Playing for the Jr. Blues was one of the best decisions I
have made in my hockey career. Jack Behan and the rest of the coaching staff
are the most dedicated and passionate I have played for. Jack Behan continued
to help me throughout my Junior career after playing for the Jr. Blues, helping
me with decisions and guidance that were instrumental to attaining my college
scholarship. Without the Jr. Blues
family I wouldn’t be where I am today."

The May Pre-Draft Camp will provide the opportunity to be selected by the Jr. Blues in their 2008 draft. This Camp can also provide the player the opportunity to be invited to the August Main Camp or possible commitment for the 2008-09 season. The June Open Camp can also provide the player the opportunity to be invited to the August Main Camp or be signed for the 2008-09 season. The fees are $115 for either Camp.
